This qualification is for any assessors who would like to assess vocational related qualifications (i.e. non NVQ or non-work based competence qualifications).

This qualification contains two units:

  • Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
  • Unit 2  – Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding

Unit 1 is knowledge based and Unit 2 is practical based. You must be training/working as an assessor, be occupationally competent in the subject you are assessing and must have access to at least two learners.

  • There are no pre-requisites for this qualification, however you will need to complete documentation required for assessment electronically, have access to the internet, have the ability to send email and have access to a video camera to record a practical observation.
  • Support will be provided by a mixture of email, Skype and webinars.

This qualification is for any assessors that would like to assess NVQ related qualifications (i.e. assessing in the workplace) or confirming occupational competence using a set of approved standards.

This qualification contains two units:

  • Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
  • Unit 2  – Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment

Unit 1 is knowledge based and Unit 2 is practical based. You must be training/working as an assessor, be occupationally competent in the subject you are assessing and must have access to at least two learners.

This qualification is for any assessors that are assessing both NVQ related qualifications and vocational related qualifications (i.e. non NVQ or non-work based competence qualifications).

This qualification contains three units:

  • Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
  • Unit 2  – Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
  • Unit 3 – Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding

Unit 1 is knowledge based and Unit 2 and 3 are practical based. You must be training/working as an assessor, be occupationally competent in the subject you are assessing and must have access to at least two learners for Unit 2 and two learners for Unit 3 (they can be the same two learners but they must be completing an NVQ and a vocationally related qualification – this might be part of an apprenticeship).

Any of the units listed can be taken as stand-alone units and certificated individually. This allows learners to build up units of credit to make a qualification over a period of time or learners may have already achieved part of the qualification and would like to apply for credit transfer (or more commonly known as APA – Accreditation of Prior Achievement).

  • There are no pre-requisites for this qualification, however you will need to complete documentation required for assessment electronically, have access to the internet, have the ability to send email and have access to a video camera to record a practical observation.
