Take your first steps to become an EQA with CB Consultancy and Training (CB C&T).

If you would like to take your first steps to becoming an External Quality Assurer (EQA), then CB C&T will take you through a unique journey in achieving the Qualifications Network Level 4 Award in Understanding the External Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, through a series of webinars and personal support.

You will be dealing directly with Carl, who will not only deliver the necessary content to achieve the qualification utilising his extensive experience as an EQA, Lead EQA and Quality Assurance Director with an Awarding Organisation (AO), but he will also include tips on being able to ‘get your foot in the door’ of an AO.

The pre-recorded webinars will be broken down into 4 bite sized sessions and you will be tasked with completing small activities prior to each one to ensure you are involved and are interacting with Carl as much as possible. You will be encouraged following each session and prior to the following session, to complete your written assessment as you go. This not only aids your motivation, as you can clearly see your progression and have set targets to achieve, but most importantly you will have personal, ongoing support and mentoring by Carl.

If you are serious about becoming an EQA or alternatively, if you are a training provider (with no interest in practicing as an EQA) looking for in depth information on how EQAs and AO’s operate in order to analyse and improve your business, then this qualification and/or series of webinars is the one for you and you can do it without leaving your home or office!

Here’s how the EQA webinar programme will run:

You will have access to 4 pre-recorded webinars that will last between one – two hours. On these webinars Carl will take you through the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the EQA knowledge qualification, using real life experiences to help you relate what is being delivered to the role of an EQA. Carl will also share good practice, provide tips on becoming an EQA and for the VIP option, will provide you with access to a bonus 5th webinar. The bonus webinar doesn’t directly relate to the qualification, but will provide you with another avenue to possibly ‘get your foot in the door’ with an AO. Prior to each webinar, you will be asked to complete a small task which is designed to prepare you for the upcoming session and to keep you involved within your learning journey.

Following each webinar, you will be tasked with completing the relevant questions of the written assessment (worksheet) that directly related to the content of that webinar, therefore you can set yourself targets to achieve in your chosen timescale and following the 4th webinar, you should be in a position to submit your worksheet for summative assessment. This is a great way of completing the assessment, as the content is still fresh in your mind and there will be no temptation to put it off until tomorrow/next week/next month etc… like other modes of delivery.

Please ensure you click on the following headings for further information on each webinar, including the bonus 5th webinar.

Independent assessment of the appeals process on behalf of an AO

Achieving the Qualifications Network Level 4 Award in Understanding the External Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice qualification, will not qualify you to become an EQA, however it will certainly give you a fantastic insight to the role and give you a head start on other candidates who may be unqualified, as and when EQA positions become available in your chosen sector.

However, this isn’t the only route for you to be able to work for an AO –  As part of the General Conditions of Recognition, every AO as part of their appeals process, has to ensure that all appeal decisions must involve at least one decision maker who is not an employee of the AO, an assessor working for it, or otherwise connected to it. This individual is often referred to as an ‘independent assessor’, therefore as part of this webinar, Carl will give you good practice guidelines in conducting an investigation in relation to an appeal and making decisions on behalf of an AO. This is where the FAB offer really comes into it’s own – The Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) have a list of volunteers (all FAB members) that have put their name forward to help other members (AOs) with independent assessment and to be on this list you normally have to be an full member (i.e. be working for a member AO) or an associate consultant member which costs £1215. However CBC&T have managed to agree with FAB that if we recommend any of our clients who have achieved the EQA knowledge qualification and completed the additional CPD session that they can join as a regular consultant (£165 +VAT) and be placed on the volunteers list*. Therefore, if you have a real desire to get your foot in the door with an awarding organisation, this is a no brainer! Also, as part of the consultant membership you will receive FABs weekly updates allowing you to keep up to date with what’s going on and have access to potential jobs as and when they come out each Friday.

*It is a volunteers list, therefore you are not allowed to charge for any work rendered. This shouldn’t put you off though, as securing volunteering work as an independent assessor of the appeals process will look great on your CV and you never know, that magical door to becoming an EQA may just open for you! The money you will save from the regular price of our VIP package can go towards your FAB membership fee!
